TRANSPORT PLANNER (NIGHTS)
Newell & Wright Transport are a family run company operating since 1974 and are one of the leading transport companies in South Yorkshire, transporting freight containers by road and rail to customers across the UK and all major UK ports including Felixstowe, Southampton and London Gateway on a daily basis. We currently run a fleet of 150 vehicles from our head office in Sheffield, along with 7 freight trains from our two railheads located in Sheffield and Rotherham. This year we have further bolstered our nationwide rail operation by opening a railhead in Widnes.
Due to our continued success, we opened the Ilkeston depot in 2025 which currently hosts a fleet of 45 vehicles with a view to expand in the near future. We are looking to recruit a transport planner to join the existing team and assist in the operation.
MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
· Assisting the planning and co-ordinating of our Transport Fleet
· Liaising with drivers and customers to ensure efficient and cost-effective deliveries
· Liaising with railheads to ensure containers are available for deliveries/collections
· Pre-briefing all drivers to ensure they fully understand their instructions
· De-briefing all drivers and collecting relevant paperwork including POD’s
· Initial hours 18:00 - 06:00. However a flexible approach may be required during holidays
KEY SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
· IT literate
· Team Player
· Punctual and reliable
· Good communication skills
· Able to work under pressure
· Able to prioritise workloads
· Willing to work at multiple sites as and when required
· Car Licence (desirable)
PAY
· Minimum wage starting salary
· Paid per hour
