Nest Children’s Homes is looking for an experienced, child-focused and resilient Registered Manager to lead one of our brand new solo children’s homes.
This is a unique opportunity to manage a carefully designed solo provision for one child or young person aged 8–17, where the focus is on stability, nurture, safety and highly individualised care. The home is designed to support a young person with complex needs, including neurodiversity, learning disabilities, trauma and attachment-related experiences. The model is based on providing consistent, relationship-led care in a warm, homely and well-supported environment.
We are looking for a manager who understands that a solo children’s home is not simply a smaller version of a larger home. It requires strong leadership, excellent oversight, confident risk management and the ability to build a team culture around one young person’s individual needs, routines, interests and outcomes.
You will be responsible for leading the home in line with the Children’s Homes Regulations 2015, the Quality Standards, Ofsted expectations and the home’s Statement of Purpose. You will work closely with the Responsible Individual, placing authorities, education providers, health professionals, therapists and the staff team to ensure the young person receives safe, consistent and high-quality care.
The home’s ethos is centred on creating a “home away from home”, where the young person is supported to feel safe, build trust, develop confidence, access education, enjoy meaningful activities and prepare for greater independence at a pace that is right for them.
What we are looking for
We are seeking a manager who can bring:
- Strong knowledge of children’s homes regulations, safeguarding and Ofsted inspection expectations.
- Experience of managing or deputising within a children’s residential setting.
- A clear understanding of trauma-informed, attachment-aware and relationship-based practice.
- Experience supporting young people with complex needs, neurodiversity, learning disabilities or behaviours that challenge.
- Confidence in leading staff, developing practice, managing risk and embedding high-quality recording.
- The ability to work collaboratively with professionals while advocating strongly for the young person.
- A calm, reflective and values-led leadership style.
- A commitment to creating a stable, safe and nurturing home environment.
Essential requirements
- Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare, or willingness/eligibility to complete where appropriate.
- Relevant experience within children’s residential care.
- Strong safeguarding knowledge.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Ability to register with Ofsted as Registered Manager.
