Wraparound Care AssistantJob Summary
We are looking for a caring, enthusiastic and reliable Wraparound Care Assistant to support our before and after-school childcare provision for children aged 3–11 years. The successful candidate will help create a safe, welcoming and engaging environment where children can learn, play and develop through a range of enjoyable activities.
Working as part of the wraparound care team, you will support the delivery of high-quality childcare while ensuring the safety, wellbeing and happiness of every child.
Key ResponsibilitiesSupporting the Wraparound Provision
- Support the day-to-day running of the before and after-school childcare sessions.
- Work closely with the Wraparound Care Leader and other team members to provide high-quality care.
- Help prepare the setting before sessions and ensure it is left clean and tidy at the end of each day.
- Follow all school policies and procedures at all times.
Supporting Activities
- Assist in planning, preparing and delivering a range of fun, stimulating and inclusive activities.
- Encourage children to participate in play and learning opportunities.
- Support children's social, emotional, physical, creative and intellectual development.
- Help adapt activities to meet the individual needs and interests of all children.
- Support both indoor and outdoor play safely.
Childcare and Wellbeing
- Provide a caring, welcoming and inclusive environment where every child feels safe, respected and valued.
- Supervise children during activities, free play, meal times and transitions.
- Assist with the preparation and serving of breakfasts, snacks and light meals, following food hygiene procedures.
- Encourage positive friendships, independence and healthy lifestyles.
Safeguarding and Behaviour
- Safeguard and promote the welfare of all children in accordance with the school's safeguarding policies.
- Report any safeguarding concerns immediately to the Wraparound Care Leader or Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL).
- Promote positive behaviour and support children in line with the school's Behaviour Policy.
- Ensure children's health, safety and wellbeing are always maintained.
Communication and Administration
- Build positive relationships with children, parents, carers and school staff.
- Share relevant information about children's wellbeing with the Wraparound Care Leader.
- Assist with maintaining accurate attendance records and other documentation as required.
- Help organise and care for equipment and resources.
Quality and Inclusion
- Support the delivery of a high-quality, inclusive wraparound care service.
- Help ensure all children have equal opportunities to participate regardless of their background, culture, religion or additional needs.
- Work positively as part of the wider school team and support the school's values and vision.
Person Specification Essential
- A good understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- A caring, patient and enthusiastic approach to working with children.
- Commitment to promoting equality, diversity, inclusion and the wellbeing of all children.
Desirable
- Paediatric First Aid qualification (or willingness to obtain).
- Food Hygiene Certificate.
- Experience working in a school-based wraparound care provision.
- Knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and/or school-age childcare best practice.
- Experience working with children aged 3–11 years in a childcare, education or play setting.
