Job Overview
We are seeking an enthusiastic and compassionate SEN (Special Educational Needs) and/or Dyslexia Tutor with expertise in reading and literacy. This paid position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact by supporting children with diverse learning needs, helping them develop essential literacy skills in a nurturing environment. Starting pay is £38 but tutors with higher expertise are eligible for higher rates.
Additional but not required skills: Turkish speaker
Duties
- Deliver personalized tutoring sessions focused on reading, literacy, and dyslexia support tailored to each child's unique needs
- Develop engaging lesson plans that incorporate evidence-based strategies for SEN learners and those with dyslexia
- Assess students’ progress regularly and adapt teaching methods accordingly to ensure continuous improvement
- Foster a positive, encouraging atmosphere that boosts confidence and motivation in learners
- Collaborate with parents, guardians, and other educators to align support strategies and share progress updates
- Maintain detailed records of student sessions, progress reports, and tailored learning plans
- Promote inclusive learning environments that respect each child's individual learning style and challenges
Experience
- Experience in tutoring or teaching children, especially within special education or literacy support roles
- Knowledge of dyslexia, SEN strategies, and effective literacy intervention techniques
- Strong communication skills to clearly convey concepts and build rapport with students and their families
- Experience working with children of diverse backgrounds and learning abilities
- Ability to create engaging, accessible lesson plans that cater to different learning styles
