Graduate Support Engineer
Team: Global Currency Template Team
Reporting to: Manager, Global Currency Templates
Location: Dundee, Scotland.
Based in Dundee, Scotland, the Graduate Support Engineer provides technical guidance and project coordination related to the development of bespoke automated banknote identification and handling in a fascinating synergy of software and hardware.
The successful candidate will work with local country contacts to provide technical guidance and advice, during requirements gathering and testing of the bespoke country templates. You will then liaise with NCR Atleos developers or third parties responsible to ensure those requirements are achieved. You will work proactively with each country to identify opportunities for issue avoidance and service enhancements, fully understanding current and future bank note plans and requirements specific to each country.
Full training will be provided to ensure the successful applicant fully understands currency handling regulations, the hardware and software capabilities of each cash deposit and recycler device, and the systems used to track those projects.
The role requires a progressive, adaptable individual who is looking to grow their technical, project management and personal skills. It involves working in a very varied environment on a daily basis with technologies, customer base and projects that are constantly evolving.
What is a currency template?
This is software that implements strict banknote handling requirements in an Automated Teller Machine’s cash deposit module. Each country will have their own unique requirements for identification of currencies (both local and FOREX), identifying different types of banknote damage, counterfeit notes and in some cases a central bank certification must be passed. This is a vital part of NCR’s ability to sell banknote deposit and recycling hardware around the world in a timely and technically competent manner.
Job requirements:
Technical Guidance & Support – be capable of understanding the basic elements of hardware and software applicable for note handling. Capable of analysing errors and logs to identify root cause of issues.
Planning and Management – guide and coordinate Incidents with assistance, including confirming requirements, resource, schedule, hardware, and performance as well as working with internal/external developers to ensure the successful delivery of the bespoke software to each country
High level of communication skills – be able to adapt technical information for the relevant audience. Being the principle cornerstone at centre of all communications between all relevant teams, with guidance for more complex situations
Working in an environment may require weekend and/or extended hours, as needed, to accommodate customer needs may also required international travel on occasion.

Excellent written and spoken English, with the ability to clearly explain complex technical information to others where English is not their first language.
Ability to review & understand technical data, such as log analysis and perform technical testing as required
Willingness to travel on occasion if required, when permitted
Patient and calming manner when dealing with others during urgent incidents
Show capability of working in teams and independently
Ability to work to tight deadline and multiple incidents/requests at the same time.
