Role Overview
We are seeking a Server Administrator / DevOps Engineer to own and evolve our infrastructure. You will be responsible for maintaining our current Joomla-based platform, leading our migration to cloud hosting, and building a scalable environment to support future AI and data initiatives.
This role is hands-on and strategic, working closely with product, engineering, and upcoming data science teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and optimize current hosting environment for the Joomla-based web application
- Plan and execute migration from paid hosting to a cloud platform (e.g. AWS, GCP, or Azure)
- Design and manage scalable, secure, and highly available infrastructure
- Implement CI/CD pipelines to support faster and safer deployments
- Monitor system performance, uptime, and security, and respond to incidents
- Manage backups, disaster recovery, and business continuity planning
- Support the setup and scaling of environments for AI/ML workloads (e.g. data pipelines, model deployment infrastructure)
- Collaborate with developers to improve deployment processes and system reliability
- Ensure compliance with data protection and security standards (e.g. GDPR)
- Automate infrastructure provisioning using Infrastructure as Code tools (e.g. Terraform, CloudFormation)
Required Skills and Experience
- Proven experience in a DevOps, Site Reliability, or Server Administration role
- Strong experience with Linux-based systems and web server management (e.g. Apache, Nginx)
- Hands-on experience with at least one major cloud provider (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
- Experience with containerization (Docker) and orchestration tools (Kubernetes is a plus)
- Familiarity with CI/CD tools (e.g. GitHub)
- Strong understanding of networking, security, and system monitoring
- Experience with scripting (e.g. Bash, Python)
- Knowledge of database management (e.g. MySQL, PostgreSQL)
Desirable Experience
- Experience managing hosting for CMS platforms such as Joomla (or similar PHP-based systems)
- Experience supporting data science or machine learning teams
- Familiarity with MLOps practices and tools
- Experience with data pipelines and large-scale data processing
- Exposure to serverless architectures and microservices
- Knowledge of observability tools (e.g. Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack)
