IT Support Officer
Location: Weedon Bec, Northampton (NN7)
Reporting to: Group IT Head
Working Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday. This is a site-based role, and flexibility is required to support business operations, planned system upgrades and critical IT issues as and when required.

As part of our continued investment in digital transformation, including the implementation of SAP across our site, we are looking for a proactive and customer-focused IT Support Officer to become our dedicated on-site IT resource.

About the Role
Reporting to the Group IT Head, you will be the dedicated on-site IT Support Officer for LM Manufacturing Limited, providing first-line IT support while acting as the key liaison between the business and our outsourced IT service providers.
You will ensure employees receive timely technical support, minimise operational downtime and coordinate the delivery of IT services across the site. Working closely with the Group IT team, SAP consultants and external technology partners, you will support the implementation and ongoing optimisation of SAP, maintain local IT infrastructure and assets, and ensure a secure, reliable and efficient IT environment.
This is a hands-on role requiring excellent technical, organisational and communication skills. Flexibility is essential, as you will be expected to support business operations and critical IT requirements as and when required.
Key ResponsibilitiesIT Support
- Provide first-line IT support to employees across all departments.
- Diagnose and resolve hardware, software and network issues.
- Install, configure and maintain desktops, laptops, printers, scanners, mobile devices and peripheral equipment.
- Configure and deploy new hardware and software.
- Support Microsoft Windows, Microsoft 365 and business applications.
- Manage user accounts, passwords, email accounts and access permissions.
- Support meeting room technology, audio-visual equipment and video conferencing systems.
- Provide responsive on-site support to minimise business disruption.
SAP & Business Systems
- Support the implementation and ongoing optimisation of SAP.
- Assist with user setup, security access and permissions.
- Coordinate user acceptance testing (UAT), system upgrades and software deployments.
- Support SAP users by troubleshooting issues and coordinating resolutions.
- Work closely with SAP consultants and the Group IT team during project implementation.
- Support future business systems and digital transformation initiatives.
Infrastructure & Vendor Management
- Act as the primary on-site contact for outsourced IT service providers.
- Coordinate and monitor third-party support activities to ensure timely resolution.
- Escalate technical issues where appropriate and monitor service delivery.
- Coordinate hardware repairs, warranty claims and equipment replacements.
- Maintain IT asset registers and software licence records.
- Support procurement, deployment and lifecycle management of IT equipment.
Cybersecurity & Compliance
- Ensure devices receive security patches, operating system updates and antivirus protection.
- Support implementation of Group IT policies and cybersecurity standards.
- Promote cybersecurity awareness and good IT practices across the site.
- Assist with backup monitoring, disaster recovery and business continuity planning.
- Ensure IT systems comply with company policies and regulatory requirements.
Continuous Improvement
- Identify opportunities to improve IT systems, processes and user experience.
- Develop and maintain IT documentation, procedures and user guides.
- Participate in infrastructure upgrades and business improvement projects.
- Recommend technology solutions that improve operational efficiency.
- Support future IT and digital transformation projects.
About YouEssential
- Degree, HND/HNC or equivalent qualification in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related discipline, or equivalent industry experience.
- Previous experience in an IT Support Officer, IT Support, Systems Administrator or Infrastructure Support role.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Windows operating systems and Microsoft 365.
- Experience supporting desktop, laptop, printer and mobile device environments.
- Good understanding of Active Directory/Microsoft Entra ID.
- Experience supporting local area networks (LAN), Wi-Fi and basic network infrastructure.
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to prioritise workload and work effectively under pressure.
- Experience working with third-party IT service providers.
Desirable
- Experience supporting ERP systems, preferably SAP.
- Experience within a pharmaceutical, manufacturing or regulated environment.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Intune and endpoint management.
- Knowledge of networking, switches, wireless infrastructure and cybersecurity best practices.
- Experience with backup, disaster recovery and business continuity processes.
- Experience supporting IT infrastructure projects and system implementations.
Working Environment
- Predominantly site-based role within an office and pharmaceutical manufacturing environment.
- Regular interaction with employees across all departments.
