Come and join our friendly team for a varied and exciting role at the heart of our hotel.
As Receptionist, you'll be the face of Penmorvah Manor Hotel — making reservations, meeting and greeting guests, and showing them to their rooms. You will also be taking phone enquiries, monitoring the reception inbox, and carrying out general administrative tasks, always providing a professional service. Ability to think on your feet and use your initiative is a must as there is never a dull moment. A smart appearance is vital.
This role is advertised as a part-time position, 2-3 days a week, including weekends. Shift patterns will vary but will be straight 8-hour shifts starting no earlier than 8am and finishing no later than 9pm. No split shifts or night shifts. As a small team, we strive to accommodate preferred days off on a week-to-week basis.
Essential criteria
- Previous experience within hospitality or administration.
- Proven ability in a customer-facing role, with a can-do attitude and willingness to help.
- IT literate — competent using Microsoft Office applications and Gmail.
- Phone etiquette — able to answer calls and respond to enquiries in a warm and professional manner.
- Ability to multitask and adapt to competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal — you must be able to communicate effectively with the reception team and other departments, and respond to email enquiries with a good level of written English.
Desirable criteria
- Experience with MEWS or another property management/reservation system.
- Experience using social media and graphic design software such as Canva, particularly in a marketing context.
At busy times, you may occasionally be asked to work within other departments such as bar and restaurant. No experience necessary as training will be given.
We are a dog-friendly hotel, and you will be sharing an office with our resident spaniel, so being a dog-lover is a big plus!
You must have your own transport or be able to reliably commute to the hotel, as we are located in an area with limited public transport.
Hourly rate from £12.50 dependant on experience. To be discussed at interview.
