Night Manager

£13.45 per hour
Part-time: Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights (11pm–7 or 8am)
About Us
The Churchill Hotel is a 40 bedroom, 4-star independent hotel located on Bootham, York. Jorvik House is it's sister hotel with 19 bedrooms and is located just a short walk away from The Churchill on Marygate.
We are now seeking a friendly, reliable and professional Night Manager to join our team and provide exceptional service and safety throughout the night. The role will involve some shifts at The Churchill and others at Jorvik House each week.
The Role
As Night Manager, you will be responsible for the smooth running of the hotel during overnight hours. You will ensure guest safety, support late arrivals or early departures, and complete key tasks to prepare the hotel for the following day.
We are ideally looking for someone who can start in late August.
Key Responsibilities
Guest Services
- Welcome, assist and check in late-arriving guests.
- Handle guest enquiries in person, by phone and via email.
- Provide clear information about hotel facilities and local area.
- Manage any guest concerns or issues professionally and promptly.
Hotel Safety and Security
- Monitor the hotel building and grounds throughout the night.
- Conduct regular security checks and record observations.
- Respond to any emergencies or incidents and follow hotel procedures.
- Ensure the safety and comfort of all resident guests.
Reception and Administrative Duties
- Manage reservations, cancellations and booking queries.
- Complete night audit tasks and update guest records.
- Prepare handovers for the morning team.
- Ensure reception and lobby areas remain clean, tidy and welcoming.
Operational Preparation
- Set up the breakfast room for the following morning.
- Prepare bar and lounge areas ready for the next day.
- Assist with light cleaning or organisational tasks where needed.
- Support any additional operational duties required overnight.
About You
- Friendly, confident and approachable.
- Reliable and comfortable working unsupervised during night shifts.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Experience in hospitality or customer service is desirable but not essential.
- Able to remain calm and professional in all situations.

- Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights
- 11pm to 7 or 8am
- Regular weekly shift pattern.
