Alongside maintaining these high standards, the unit is dedicated to research and aims to provide every patient with access to clinical trials, currently enrolling in seven different studies. Additionally, TOGU is a major contributor to the oesophageal cancer clinical and molecular stratification (OCCAMS) study. TOGU offers specialised tertiary referral services for OG conditions to a population of 2 million people in Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire, making it one of the largest OG cancer centers in Europe.
This is a 12-month post specifically intended for senior trainees seeking additional experience in OG surgery before applying for consultant posts in OG surgery with a planned start date of Jan 2027.
Opportunities will be available to receive training in open and minimally invasive OG cancer surgery, complex benign OG procedures such as hiatus hernia and achalasia surgeries, as well as endoscopic treatments like stenting, endomucosal resections (EMR), and peroral endoscopic myotomy (POEM).
