Production Manager
Salary: Up to £45,000 per annum
Job Type: Permanent | Full-Time 5 days a week with Saturday and Sunday included as part of the working rota.. You will be able to pick your 2 days off for the week

About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Production Manager to join a growing food manufacturing business. Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will take full responsibility for leading the production function, ensuring products are manufactured safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards of quality.
This is a hands-on leadership position where you'll oversee production teams, drive operational performance, improve efficiencies, and foster a culture of continuous improvement while ensuring customer requirements and production targets are consistently achieved.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, motivate and develop production supervisors, team leaders and production operatives.
- Manage the day-to-day production operation to ensure output, quality and efficiency targets are achieved.
- Plan labour and production resources to maximise productivity and minimise downtime.
- Ensure all products are manufactured in line with customer specifications, food safety legislation and company quality standards.
- Drive a positive health & safety culture, ensuring full compliance with company procedures and legislative requirements.
- Monitor production KPIs, identify trends and implement improvements to increase efficiency and reduce waste.
- Work closely with Engineering, Technical, Planning and Warehouse teams to ensure smooth operational performance.
- Investigate production issues, implement corrective actions and minimise disruption to production.
- Maintain accurate production, quality and performance records.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives using Lean Manufacturing principles where appropriate.
- Recruit, coach and develop employees through regular performance reviews, training and succession planning.
- Manage absence, disciplinary matters and employee performance in line with company policies.
- Deliver production against budget while controlling labour and operational costs.
About You
You'll be an experienced Production Manager with a proven background in food manufacturing or FMCG, capable of leading large teams while delivering operational excellence.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Previous experience as a Production Manager within food manufacturing or FMCG.
- Strong leadership experience managing production teams in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Excellent understanding of food safety, hygiene, HACCP and GMP.
- Experience managing production KPIs, labour planning and operational performance.
- Strong organisational, planning and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication and people management abilities.
- Confident using production systems and Microsoft Office.
- Ability to lead change and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Desirable
- Lean Manufacturing or Continuous Improvement experience.
- IOSH or NEBOSH qualification.
- Food Safety or HACCP qualification.
- Experience managing multiple production lines.
QualificationsEssential
- GCSEs, NVQ, HNC/HND or equivalent qualification.
- Food Hygiene Certificate or willingness to obtain one.
Desirable
- HACCP Qualification.
- IOSH Managing Safely.
- Qualification in Manufacturing, Food Science, Operations Management or Engineering.
Working Hours
- Permanent, full-time position.
- 45-hour working week.
- Flexibility required to support production demands, seasonal peaks and weekend working.
