Hamilton Ross Group are leading suppliers of Agricultural, Groundcare and Construction machinery across Central Scotland and proud to have been named one of Scotland’s Top 500 Companies in 2026. We’re a family business with over 90 years behind us, and we’re looking for a hands-on, well-organised Yard Operative & Valeter to join our team at our Tarbolton depot.
This is a varied, active role at the heart of our depot operation. You’ll be responsible for keeping the yard running smoothly from preparing machines for sale, hire and handover, to keeping the site clean, well-presented and organised. If you take pride in your work and like being busy, you’ll fit right in.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Valeting and detailing new and used machinery to a high standard ahead of sale, hire or customer collection
- Preparing machines for hire and loan: cleaning, checking fluid levels and ensuring they go out in top condition
- Loading and unloading lorries and keeping accurate records of all incoming and outgoing machinery
- Ensuring all delivery and collection paperwork is completed, signed and passed to the right people
- Photographing new and second-hand machinery to agreed standards for use in marketing and listings
- Maintaining the yard, forecourt and surrounding areas, keeping everything tidy, organised and presented to a high standard
- Ensuring machinery is stored in the correct designated areas in line with the agreed yard plan
- Keeping the workshop clean and tidy to the standard required
- Delivering and collecting customer machines by van or pickup with trailer when required (subject to licence held)
What We’re Looking For
- A practical, hands-on approach and a genuine eye for presentation and detail
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to keep on top of a busy, varied workload
- A full UK driving licence
- Trailer licence preferred however training available for the right candidate
- Forklift licence would be an advantage
- Any background in agricultural, groundcare or construction machinery is a bonus, but not a requirement, a willingness to learn matters more
What We Offer
- Competitive salary, commensurate with experience
- 30 days holiday per annum including public and bank holidays
- Company pension scheme
- A stable, permanent role with a trusted local employer — family-owned and trading for over 90 years
- The backing of a business recognised in Scotland’s Top 500 Companies 2026
Working Pattern:
- Monday to Friday, with weekend availability during peak periods
- Based on-site at our Tarbolton depot
Pay: £25,775.00-£26,000.00 per year
Benefits:
- Employee discount
- On-site parking
Work Location: In person
