Care Worker – Family Time Service

Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am–5:00pm
Seven Resourcing is recruiting for a Care Worker to join a Family Time Service within Specialist Children's Services in South Shields. This is a rewarding opportunity for an experienced individual to work directly with children, young people and families, supporting positive outcomes through targeted family support and supervised family time.
The successful candidate will facilitate and supervise family time between children and their parents or other significant relatives. You will observe and document interactions, provide appropriate support and guidance, and contribute valuable information to support assessments and care planning.
Key Responsibilities
- Work directly with children, young people and families to deliver targeted and supportive interventions in line with identified outcomes.
- Facilitate, supervise and document family time between children and their parents or significant relatives.
- Ensure family time sessions are safe, positive and focused on the needs and wellbeing of the child.
- Observe interactions between children and family members and accurately record relevant information.
- Identify issues and concerns arising during family time sessions and contribute observations to assessments and care planning.
- Prepare clear, accurate and professional written reports, which may be used within court proceedings.
- Support and guide parents appropriately during family time sessions.
- Maintain and update records of family time arrangements, visits and schedules.
- Assist with the coordination of visits and family time to support the smooth running of the service.
- Build and maintain positive working relationships with children, families, foster carers and other professionals.
- Support transport arrangements and other practical aspects of family time where required.
- Work closely with Social Workers and other professionals to support the implementation and monitoring of care plans.
- Promote equality, diversity and inclusion in all aspects of practice.
- Work in line with relevant safeguarding procedures, policies and statutory requirements.
Applicant Requirements
- Previous experience working directly with children and young people is essential.
- Experience supporting children and families within a social care, family support, residential care, education or similar setting is desirable.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong report-writing skills, with the ability to produce clear and accurate written records.
- Ability to communicate effectively with children and young people.
- Experience of observing and recording interactions and behaviour would be advantageous.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- A strong understanding of safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
- Commitment to equality, diversity and inclusive practice.
- A Full UK Driving Licence is essential.
- Ability and flexibility to travel regularly across the region to meet the needs of the service.
