Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and hardworking Kitchen Assistant to join our culinary team. The Kitchen Assistant will support the kitchen staff in maintaining a clean, organized, and efficient workspace. This role is essential for ensuring that our kitchen operates smoothly and that our chefs can deliver high-quality meals to our guests.
Key Responsibilities:
- Food Preparation: Assist with basic food preparation tasks such as washing, peeling, chopping, cutting, and slicing ingredients as directed by the chefs.
- Cleaning and Sanitizing: Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, including washing dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment; ensuring all surfaces are clean and sanitized.
- Stock Management: Assist in unloading, checking, and storing deliveries of ingredients and supplies; ensure proper stock rotation and storage.
- Waste Disposal: Properly dispose of kitchen waste and ensure that garbage bins are regularly emptied and cleaned.
- Assisting Chefs: Provide support to chefs and kitchen staff by fetching ingredients, equipment, and other necessary items; assist in plating dishes as needed.
- Maintaining Equipment: Ensure that kitchen equipment is cleaned, maintained, and stored properly after use; report any equipment issues to the Head Chef or Kitchen Manager.
- Health and Safety: Adhere to all health and safety regulations and procedures to maintain a safe working environment; ensure compliance with food hygiene standards.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Previous experience in a kitchen or food preparation environment is preferred but not required; we are willing to train the right candidate.
- Skills: Basic knowledge of food preparation and kitchen safety; ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for extended periods; lift and carry heavy objects; perform repetitive tasks with speed and accuracy.
- Personal Qualities: Strong work ethic, attention to detail, reliability, and a positive attitude; ability to work well as part of a team.
