Real People Solutions (RPS) are recruiting on behalf of our client, a well-established manufacturer of specialist rubber products, for a Workshop & Production Operative to join their growing team.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a workshop, engineering, manufacturing or mechanical background, or someone with a genuine interest in learning these skills to build a long-term career within a specialist manufacturing environment.
No previous experience in rubber manufacturing is required. Full training will be provided across both the Tooling Workshop and Millroom, giving you the opportunity to develop valuable hands-on skills while working alongside experienced engineers and production specialists.
Our client manufactures high-quality rubber components for a wide range of industries including automotive, aerospace, medical and industrial manufacturing. Their expertise includes:
- Custom rubber moulding
- Rubber extrusion
- Rubber-to-metal bonding
- Bespoke rubber components, seals, gaskets and O-rings
The Role
This is a varied, hands-on role where no two days are the same. You'll divide your time between the Tooling Workshop and Millroom, learning specialist manufacturing processes and supporting the production team.
If you enjoy working with your hands, solving practical problems, using tools and machinery, or have an interest in engineering or manufacturing, this could be the ideal opportunity.
Tooling Workshop Duties
- Assemble, fit and maintain rubber mould tools.
- Support production by ensuring tooling is operating safely and efficiently.
- Carry out tooling adjustments and minor repairs.
- Assist with basic fault finding and troubleshooting.
- Work closely with production and engineering teams to minimise downtime.
- Safely handle and move mould tools around the workshop.
Millroom Duties
- Receive and inspect incoming materials and deliveries.
- Book stock onto the internal system.
- Generate production paperwork, job sheets and barcodes.
- Weigh, mix, cut and prepare rubber and sponge materials.
- Operate milling and rolling machinery following full training.
- Prepare materials accurately for production.

You'll also need:
- A positive attitude and willingness to learn.
- Good attention to detail.
- To be comfortable working in a physical manufacturing environment.
- Reliability and a strong work ethic.
- Flexibility to work across both departments.
- A full UK driving licence and your own transport, as travel between the Nyewood and Fareham sites is required.
Desirable:
- Forklift licence.
- Previous manufacturing, engineering, workshop or production experience.
Training & Development
This role has been designed to develop specialist manufacturing skills. You'll receive structured training from experienced colleagues across both departments, allowing you to build knowledge in tooling, machinery, material preparation and production processes.
