We are seeking an experienced, reliable and highly detail-oriented Housekeeping and Laundry Assistant to
support a busy private household in Nottingham. The household is home to a family of six - two adults and four
children. The role will have a strong focus on laundry and garment care, alongside general tidying, household
organisation and occasional cleaning as required.
The successful candidate will take pride in maintaining an orderly home, ensuring that clothing and household
items are cared for properly, neatly organised and consistently returned to their designated place.
Key Duties
- Collect, sort and separate clothing, bedding, towels and other household laundry according to colour, fabric type
and care instructions.
- Wash and dry items using the correct programmes, temperatures and products, with careful attention to delicate
and high-quality fabrics.
- Identify and treat stains appropriately before washing.
- Iron, steam, press, fold and hang garments and household linens to a consistently high standard.
- Put clean clothing away in the correct wardrobes and drawers, arranging garments neatly and maintaining an
organised system.
- Identify items requiring professional dry cleaning or specialist care; drop them off, collect them and return them to
the appropriate wardrobe or storage area.
- Keep laundry, ironing and wardrobe areas clean, tidy, well stocked and organised.
- Carry out general tidying throughout the home, including putting away items left out and ensuring that everything
is returned to its designated place after use.
- Organise drawers, cupboards and household storage areas so that items are easy to locate and the home
remains orderly.
- Assist with light or general housekeeping and cleaning duties when required, working flexibly according to the
needs of the household.
Candidate Requirements
- In-depth knowledge of washing, drying, ironing, steaming, stain removal and fabric care.
- Previous experience in a hotel, professional laundry, private household or another high-standard housekeeping
environment.
- Exceptional attention to detail and a genuine pride in maintaining a clean, tidy and well-organised home.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to work independently and use initiative.
- Reliable, punctual, discreet, trustworthy and respectful of the family's privacy.
- Good communication skills and a good command of English.
- Must be self-employed and responsible for managing their own tax and National Insurance obligations.
- A full driving licence is desirable for dry-cleaning drop-offs and collections.
This is a permanent part-time role for someone who enjoys creating order, understands that every item should
have a home and takes pride in maintaining excellent standards of laundry, housekeeping and organisation.
Pay: £15.00 per hour
