Overview
We are seeking a reliable and experienced Forklift Driver/Warehouse Operative to join our dynamic logistics team. The successful candidate will be responsible for efficiently managing warehouse operations, including loading and unloading goods, operating forklifts, and maintaining accurate inventory records. This role offers an excellent opportunity to utilise your warehouse management skills within a fast-paced environment, contributing to the smooth flow of materials and products. Previous warehouse experience and mechanical knowledge are highly desirable, along with the ability to handle heavy lifting safely.
Responsibilities
- Operate forklift trucks safely and efficiently to load, unload, and move materials within the warehouse
- Assist with shipping and receiving activities, ensuring all goods are correctly documented and stored
- Manage stock levels using the warehouse management system (WMS), ensuring accurate inventory control
- Conduct basic equipment repairs and maintenance checks on forklifts and other warehouse machinery
- Handle materials with care, adhering to health and safety regulations during all operations
- Assist in organising storage areas for optimal space utilisation and accessibility
- Perform manual handling tasks including heavy lifting of goods and materials as required
- Support warehouse organisation by maintaining cleanliness and safety standards throughout the facility
- Collaborate with team members to meet daily operational targets
Qualifications
- Proven experience operating forklift trucks; certification is preferred but not essential if willing to undertake training
- Familiarity with warehouse management systems (WMS) or similar inventory software
- Mechanical knowledge or experience in equipment repair is advantageous
- Strong understanding of materials handling procedures and safety protocols
- Basic mathematical skills for counting, measuring, and verifying stock quantities
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently over extended periods
- Previous experience in a warehouse environment is Essential
- Good organisational skills with attention to detail in stock management tasks
