Apprentice Assembly Engineer
Hulme Martin Heat Sealers Ltd is a long-established British manufacturer of industrial heat sealing and packaging equipment, supplying customers throughout the UK and worldwide.
We are looking for an enthusiastic Apprentice Assembly Engineer to join our small engineering and manufacturing team.
This is a practical, hands-on role where you will work alongside our experienced team and learn how to build our heat sealing machines from individual components through to a finished and tested machine.
The role will include:
- Building and assembling heat sealing machines
- Mechanical assembly and fitting of components
- Basic electrical assembly and wiring
- Using hand tools, power tools and workshop equipment
- Following build instructions and engineering drawings
- Testing completed machines
- Learning basic fault finding
- Assisting with machine repairs and refurbishment
- Keeping the workshop clean, organised and safe
As you gain experience, you will also have the opportunity to learn about servicing and repairing our machines and accompany our service engineer on customer visits.
What we're looking for
Previous engineering experience isn't essential. We're looking for someone who is practical, reliable, willing to learn and has a genuine interest in engineering and how things work.
An interest in building, repairing, mechanics, electronics or similar practical hobbies would be an advantage.
Qualifications
Essential:
- GCSE Maths at Grade 4/C or above
Desirable:
- GCSE English at Grade 4/C or above
Working hours
Monday–Thursday: 8:00am–4:30pm
Friday: 8:00am–1:30pm
37.5 hours per week
Pay
£8.00–£9.00 per hour, depending on the successful candidate.
Pay will be reviewed as the apprentice progresses through their training.
Training & Development
You will complete a recognised engineering apprenticeship alongside practical, on-the-job training at Hulme Martin.
We're looking for someone we can train and develop into a skilled Assembly Engineer who can continue their career with Hulme Martin after completing their apprenticeship.
Pay: £8.00-£9.00 per hour
