Summary
We are seeking a dedicated CCTV & Security Lighting Installer to join our team in the Wirral area.
This role involves installing, configuring and maintaining CCTV systems, alongside the installation of external security lighting at domestic properties. You will work directly in customers' homes and communities, providing security measures designed to increase safety, reassurance and confidence.
The successful candidate will have good practical and technical skills, experience working with electrical systems, and a professional approach when working in occupied domestic properties.
Responsibilities
- Install and configure CCTV systems at domestic and other approved locations, ensuring optimal performance.
- Install external security lighting at domestic properties, including PIR/motion-activated security lights and associated equipment.
- Assess suitable locations for CCTV cameras and security lighting to provide effective coverage while taking account of the customer's property and individual circumstances.
- Safely mount cameras, lighting and associated equipment to external walls and other suitable surfaces.
- Complete electrical connections associated with security lighting installations in accordance with relevant electrical and safety requirements.
- Connect, configure and test CCTV network components to ensure seamless integration and reliable operation.
- Test all CCTV and security lighting installations before leaving site to ensure equipment is operating correctly.
- Troubleshoot technical issues relating to CCTV hardware, software, networking and security lighting.
- Explain installed equipment and its operation clearly to customers following completion of the work.
- Work respectfully and professionally within customers' homes, recognising that many service users may be vulnerable or experiencing difficult circumstances.
- Maintain accurate documentation and records of installations, equipment fitted and work completed.
- Ensure the work area is left clean, safe and tidy following installation.
- Adhere to company health and safety procedures, risk assessments and safe working practices at all times.
- Use ladders, hand tools, power tools and other installation equipment safely.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues, local authority partners and customers to deliver appropriate security solutions.
- Keep up to date with developments in CCTV, security lighting and associated technology.
Qualifications and Experience
- Proven experience in CCTV installation, maintenance or a similar security installation role.
- Experience installing external security lighting at domestic properties is highly desirable.
- Strong practical electrical knowledge and experience working safely with electrical systems.
- Appropriate electrical qualifications or competency to undertake the electrical elements of security lighting installations would be advantageous.
- Understanding of CCTV systems, networking and system configuration.
- Ability to interpret basic electrical diagrams, schematics and installation instructions.
- Competent in the safe use of hand tools, power tools and access equipment.
- Good practical problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and manage a daily schedule of appointments.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Professional and respectful approach when working in occupied domestic properties.
- Relevant security, CCTV or electrical certifications are advantageous.
- Full UK driving licence preferred.
