A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an Activities Coordinator to join our team.
Purpose: Plan and deliver a meaningful, varied programme of activities that supports residents' wellbeing, identity, independence and inclusion, in line with Anne's Law and the Health and Social Care Standards.
Reports to: Home Manager, with day-to-day support from the Deputy Manager.
Key responsibilities
Develop and deliver a weekly and monthly programme of group and one-to-one activities tailored to residents' interests, abilities and life history.
Maintain a meaningful day for residents, including those bedbound, living with advanced dementia or end of life.
Support residents to maintain external relationships and community connections, in line with Anne's Law.
Plan and run external outings safely, including risk assessments and appropriate staffing.
Build relationships with families to gather life history and personal preferences.
Liaise with community partners: schools, churches, charities, entertainers, volunteer groups.
Maintain records of resident participation and the impact of activities.
Manage the activities budget within agreed limits.
Contribute to a positive, welcoming atmosphere within the home.
Carry out any other reasonable duties commensurate with the role, as directed by the Home Manager.
Requirements:
- Excellent communicator both written and verbal
- Show an empathetic, warm and cheerful personality
- Ability to put creative ideas into practice
- Experience of working with the elderly would be preferred but not essential
- Experience in activities for older people will be an advantage
- Able to work independently and as part of a team
- Have the flexibility and willingness to work shifts, including alternate weekends
- Computer skills essential
- Full driving licence
