About the role
Balfour Beatty Power T&D is looking for a General Operative to join our team on the Longside Substation project in Peterhead. This is an excellent opportunity to be part of a major infrastructure project supporting the UK's electricity network, working within a busy operational environment alongside experienced site teams.
What you'll be doing
- Assisting with the safe and efficient running of the project stores and yard facilities.
- Supporting the Stores Person and HGV Drivers with daily operational activities.
- Loading and unloading delivery vehicles.
- Checking deliveries for quality, quantity and damage against delivery documentation.
- Assisting with the issue, receipt and management of materials, plant, tools, equipment, consumables and PPE.
- Supporting stock control processes and maintaining accurate records.
- Liaising with operational teams to ensure materials are available when required.
- Assisting with the hire, acceptance and off-hire of plant and equipment.
- Supporting the management and tracking of calibrated tools and equipment.
- Maintaining a safe, secure, organised and tidy stores and yard area.
- Ensuring access to the yard and stores is restricted to authorised personnel.
- Following all health, safety and environmental procedures at all times.
Who we're looking for
Essential
- Full UK driving licence.
- Strong team-working skills.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
Desirable
- Experience working within construction, utilities or infrastructure environments.
- Knowledge of the power transmission and distribution industry.
- Telehandler licence.
- OHL authorisations.
- Emergency First Aid at Work qualification.
