Platers
Altrad are currently looking for experienced Platers to join the team for Outage Works.
This role will involve working 13 Days On, 1 Day Off – 12 Hour Shifts, Mobilisation Start Date 12/10/2026
The position is paid under NAECI agreement, with lodge and travel paid where applicable.
Key Deliverables:
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, general arrangement drawings and technical specifications to determine work requirements.
- Plan fabrication activities and select appropriate tools, equipment and materials to complete tasks safely and efficiently.
- Cut, prepare, shape, fabricate and assemble plate and structural steel components in accordance with project specifications.
- Carry out fabrication shop assembly activities including burning, grinding, skin casing, duct work, hangers and support fabrication.
- Mark out, measure and check fabricated components using approved methods to ensure dimensional accuracy and specification compliance.
- Assemble and install fabricated components using approved methods including welding, bolting and riveting.
- Inspect materials, fabrications and installations throughout the work process, identifying defects and taking corrective action where required.
- Prepare work areas, materials and equipment prior to commencing engineering activities, ensuring all safety requirements are met.
- Reinstate equipment and work areas to a safe condition following completion of work activities.
- Work in accordance with permits to work, risk assessments, method statements and site safety procedures.
- Monitor quality and productivity standards and support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Report progress, issues, defects and opportunities for improvement in a timely and professional manner.
- Maintain the highest standards of safety, quality and workmanship at all times.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, engineers, clients, subcontractors and regulatory representatives.
- Support team activities and contribute to the successful delivery of project objectives.
Key Requirements / Qualifications:
- General secondary education or equivalent.
- Completed a recognised Plating, Fabrication or Engineering Apprenticeship or equivalent vocational qualification.
- NVQ Level 3, ACE Card or equivalent industry-recognised qualification in Plating or Fabrication.
- Valid CCNSG Safety Passport or equivalent site-required safety certification.
- Minimum 12 months' experience in platework, steelwork fabrication and structural assembly activities.
- Experience working within the engineering construction industry on major industrial projects.
- Experience within the oil & gas, petrochemical, thermal power generation, manufacturing or nuclear sectors is desirable.
- Sound understanding of fabrication techniques, plating methods and associated equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications and fabrication instructions.
- Understanding of human performance principles and safe working practices.
- Critical task training and site-specific authorisations as required by the project.
