Liberty Guard (UK) Ltd is a leading supplier of mobile welfare and temporary accommodation units throughout the UK. Due to continued growth, we are seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Welfare Accommodation Service & Repair Engineer to join our Engineering Team based at Sandtoft.
This is a hands-on role focused on diagnosing faults, carrying out repairs, servicing equipment, and ensuring our welfare fleet is maintained to the highest standards. You will play a vital role in minimising downtime and preparing units for rapid deployment to customers across the UK.
The Role
Working within our engineering workshop and yard facilities, you will be responsible for inspecting, servicing, diagnosing and repairing a wide range of mobile welfare and temporary accommodation units.
You will ensure units are turned around quickly, safely and efficiently, maintaining fleet availability while delivering high-quality workmanship and attention to detail.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair faults on mobile welfare and temporary accommodation units.
- Carry out routine servicing and preventative maintenance on generators, heating systems and associated equipment.
- Service, repair and maintain Webasto heating systems.
- Install, maintain and troubleshoot solar-powered systems, batteries and Victron inverter systems.
- Carry out repairs to hydraulic, electrical, plumbing and mechanical systems within welfare units.
- Complete pre-hire inspections and ensure units meet Company quality, safety and operational standards before deployment.
- Prepare welfare units for rapid turnaround and return to service following off-hire inspections.
- Identify defects, assess repair requirements and prioritise work to minimise fleet downtime.
- Maintain accurate service, inspection and repair records.
- Assist with stock control and identification of parts required for repairs and servicing.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives that enhance reliability, efficiency and customer satisfaction.
Skills & Experience
Essential
- Experience working in a mechanical, plant, fleet, welfare accommodation or maintenance environment.
- Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
- Experience servicing generators and related equipment.
- Knowledge of 12V/24V electrical systems.
- Ability to carry out plumbing, electrical and general repair work to a high standard.
- Good practical engineering skills and a proactive approach to problem solving.
Desirable
- Experience working with welfare units or temporary accommodation.
- Experience with Webasto heating systems.
- Experience with Victron solar and inverter systems.
