Mechanical Maintenance Engineer
Manufacturing | Days Based (Mon–Fri) | £36,000then once trained up £38,000 + Bonus + Share Scheme
A leading UK manufacturing business is seeking a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join its established engineering team on the day shift.
This is a full-time permanent role offering long-term stability, training and progression within a modern manufacturing environment.
The role is based on a Monday to Friday days shift (37 hours per week), with a starting salary of £36,000 rising to £38,000 following training, plus potential annual bonus and share scheme participation.
This position would suit a time-served Mechanical Maintenance Engineer, Maintenance Technician or Mechanical Fitter with strong manufacturing experience and a proactive approach to maintenance and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out reactive maintenance on manufacturing machinery
- Perform planned preventative maintenance (PPM) across site equipment
- Diagnose and repair mechanical faults on plant and machinery
- Work on hydraulic and pneumatic systems fault-finding and repairs
- Carry out mechanical fitting, welding and fabrication work
- Support daily production by minimising downtime and breakdowns
- Record and update all maintenance activity accurately on systems
- Communicate with Production Managers and Team Leaders on issues
- Investigate breakdowns and complete effective repairs
- Identify root causes and implement corrective actions
- Suggest improvements to reduce repeat failures and improve reliability
- Support lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives
- Ensure all maintenance work is completed safely and efficiently
- Work as part of a multi-skilled engineering and production team
Candidate Requirements
- Time-served Mechanical Engineer or Mechanical Maintenance Engineer
- City & Guilds Level 1 & 2 (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering
- Strong mechanical fitting experience in manufacturing
- Experience with hydraulics and pneumatics fault-finding
- Ability to carry out welding and fabrication tasks
- Experience in planned maintenance / PPM systems
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills
- Eligible to work in the UK
