Job Summary
Cargilfield School is seeking a Maintenance Team Member to join our team.
This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with a strong background in general operational maintenance. You will contribute to a safe and efficient working environment. The position is paid and suitable for those eager to develop their skills within a supportive organisation.
Hours: 8am-4pm (Monday to Thursday) and 9am-5pm (Friday).
Maintenance Worker Responsibilities
- Undertake general building and joinery tasks (e.g., fitting shelves, repairing fixtures).
- Carry out basic plumbing and glass repairs.
- Assist with managing heating systems and reporting issues.
- Keep pathways, corridors and classrooms safe and free from hazards.
- Replace emergency lighting and bulbs.
- Support grounds and gardening work, including pitch preparation.
- Assist with compliance requirements (H&S, Fire, Water & Legionella).
- Move furniture, prepare rooms, and support school events.
- Maintain fences, benches, gutters, and painted areas.
- Drive school minibuses as required.
- Clean, refuel and maintain School vehicles.
- Safely store tools, equipment, and substances in line with regulations.
- Report maintenance issues promptly.
- Follow all Health & Safety procedures (risk assessments, COSHH, PPE etc.).
- Assist with School security awareness.
- Any other reasonable request from the Facilities Manager, Bursar, or Headmaster.
Maintenance Worker – Ideal Candidate
- Maintenance or trade experience (minimum 2 years preferred).
- Strong mechanical aptitude and practical problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Full driving licence (preferred)
