Role Overview
Are you passionate about improving outcomes and enhancing the quality of life for people with complex neurological and behavioural needs? Do you have experience in behaviour support, Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) services, or supporting people with neurological conditions?
We are seeking an experienced Behaviour Support Practitioner to take a leading role in ensuring person-centred, evidence-based support for the people we will support at our brand-new neurological service, Riverway Lodge. This role is service-dedicated, working closely with operational colleagues to create and implement interventions using Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA), Positive Behaviour Support (PBS), and Capable Environments.
You will provide specialist support at our brand new neurological residential service for people with Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) and potentially co-occurring conditions such as learning disabilities, Autism Spectrum Conditions (ASC), and mental health needs. You’ll co-produce effective PBS Plans, Support Plans, and Risk Assessments, always following the principles of least restrictive practice, while leading and mentoring colleagues to embed best practice across the service.
Key Responsibilities (including, but not limited to):
Deliver expert guidance on behaviour management and support strategies.
Lead functional assessments of challenging behaviours and co-produce PBS Plans.
Support colleague development through coaching, training, and role modelling best practice.
Contribute to initial assessments, transitions, and ongoing review of individuals’ care.
Embed PBS principles into daily practice and encourage colleague ownership.
Attend and contribute to multi-disciplinary and trans-disciplinary team meetings.
Promote reductions in physical interventions, PRN use, seclusion, and mechanical restraint.
Maintain high-quality records, ensuring compliance with CQC, CSSIW, and/or OFSTED requirements.
Contribute to audits, research dissemination, and service development initiatives.
What we’re looking for
We’re seeking a dedicated professional with specialist knowledge in PBS and ABI support, who can work collaboratively to improve outcomes and ensure the highest standards of care for the people we support
Essential Qualification, Skills & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in ABA or related field, or Postgraduate Diploma in Applied Psychology.
Proven experience in providing PBS and functional behaviour assessments.
Experience supporting individuals with ABI, learning disabilities, ASC, and mental health conditions.
Clinical supervisory experience and the ability to lead and motivate teams.
Strong knowledge of care standards, legislation, and person-centred planning.
Excellent communication, analytical, and administrative skills.
Flexible, reliable, and committed to delivering high-quality care.
Full UK driving licence.
Desirable Qualifications
Master’s degree in ABA, PBS, or Psychology.
BCBA Certification or UK-SBA Registration.
First Aid qualification.
