Waveney Surfacing Ltd. is a trusted asphalt surfacing contractor delivering projects across East Anglia and surrounding areas. Working with commercial clients, housebuilders, local authorities and private clients, we undertake a wide range of surfacing and civil engineering projects.
We are looking for an experienced Contracts Manager / Estimator to join our team and play a key role in the continued success of the business.
The Role:
This is a varied and rewarding role where you'll manage enquiries from initial customer contact through to quotation, contract award managing our operations teams. You'll work closely with the Directors, customers, office and site teams to ensure every project starts with professionalism, accuracy and excellent communication.
As the first point of contact for many of our customers, you'll play a vital role in creating an outstanding first impression of the business. We're looking for someone who understands that great customer service is just as important as producing accurate quotations.
Managing the operation teams and co-ordinating with the daily planning requires the ability to be flexible and work well with others and communicate effectively.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage customer enquiries by telephone and email.
- Carry out site visits, surveys and measurements.
- Identify risk and produce RAMS
- Prepare accurate quotations and estimates for surfacing and civil engineering works.
- Review drawings, specifications and tender documentation.
- Obtain supplier and subcontractor quotations.
- Produce Bills of Quantities where required.
- Manage quotation revisions and variations.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customers.
- Attend site meetings and pre-start meetings.
- Manage the operations team giving clear direction and expectations.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customers.
- Support contract administration throughout the project lifecycle.
- Deliver a five-star customer experience from initial enquiry through to project completion.
- Demonstrate willingness to undertake training and development
- Help develop, mentor, and manage junior/trainee members of staff
- Attend tender handover meetings with construction team.
- Provide ongoing support to site teams relating to estimate and key assumptions.
- Managing costs throughout jobs
- Manage relationships with colleagues, customers, and suppliers.
About You
We are looking for
- Sound knowledge of civil engineering construction methods.
- Ability to interpret drawings and specifications.
- Strong numerical and data analysis skills
- Commercial awareness.
- Accurate professional and consistent approach.
- Experience with various Contract Conditions and ability to interpret risks.
- Previous exposure to Microsoft Packages.
- Ability to adapt to various software and packages.
- be flexible in your approach and possess the ability to problem solve.
- Full UK Licence as travel to sites and meetings will be required.
- Strong communication skills.
