The Venue
Olympia Events is more than an exhibition venue, conference centre and live-event space - it’s an inspiration. Against a backdrop of grand Victorian architecture, the seven connected spaces inspire engagement and enjoyment. Olympia Events is undergoing a period of change. In 2017, the venue was bought by a consortium led by Yoo Capital and Deutsche Finance international. Work is currently underway to transform the wider estate into a cultural hub of which Olympia Events will be the central part. Once complete, the estate will include a new theatre, music venue, two hotels, over 30 eateries, world-class office space and over two acres of public realm. About the Role
The Kitchen Porter plays a vital support role within the kitchen team, ensuring a clean, safe, and efficient working environment. Responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of all kitchen areas, equipment, and utensils, the Kitchen Porter helps to uphold hygiene standards and support smooth culinary operations. This role also assists with basic food preparation and deliveries, contributing to the overall success of the kitchen and the guest experience. Working closely with chefs and kitchen staff, the Kitchen Porter is essential in enabling the team to deliver high-quality service for all events and dining services within the venue.

Key Responsibilities:
Ensure all kitchen areas, floors, surfaces, and storage rooms are kept clean, hygienic, and organized in accordance with health and safety regulations.
Operate dishwashing equipment to clean and sanitize pots, pans, crockery, cutlery, and kitchen utensils efficiently and promptly.
Support the chefs with simple food prep tasks (e.g., peeling, chopping, assembling ingredients) as directed, particularly during busy service times.
Help unload food and supply deliveries, checking for accuracy and quality, and ensure correct storage in accordance with stock rotation and food safety standards.
Manage kitchen waste disposal, recycling, and rubbish removal regularly to maintain a clean and safe environment.
Work collaboratively with chefs and kitchen staff to ensure smooth kitchen operations, especially during busy events or service periods.
We are looking for someone with:
Ability to work quickly and efficiently under pressure, especially during busy service periods.
Good time management and organizational skills.
Strong attention to detail, particularly in cleanliness and hygiene standards.
Ability to follow instructions and take direction from senior kitchen staff.
Basic communication skills and the ability to work well as part of a team.
Reliable, punctual, and committed to maintaining high standards.
Positive, can-do attitude with a willingness to learn and take on a variety of tasks.
Flexible and adaptable to changing priorities or tasks during events and peak service times.
Takes pride in contributing to a clean, safe, and efficient kitchen.
