Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Carer to join our care team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in senior care within a care home environment, with proven supervisory and leadership skills. This role involves overseeing daily care activities, supporting residents' wellbeing, and ensuring high standards of personalised care. The Senior Carer will also be responsible for guiding and mentoring junior staff, implementing care plans, and maintaining effective communication with residents, families, and healthcare professionals. A valid driving licence is preferred to facilitate transportation needs.
Duties
- Supervise and support junior care staff, ensuring the delivery of compassionate and professional care
- Develop, review, and implement personalised care plans in collaboration with residents and healthcare teams
- Assist residents with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, medication management, and mobility support
- Monitor residents’ health and wellbeing, reporting any concerns to relevant healthcare professionals
- Organise and participate in activities that promote residents’ social engagement and mental stimulation
- Maintain accurate documentation of care provided in accordance with regulatory standards
- Support the organisation’s compliance with health and safety regulations
- Communicate effectively with residents’ families to update them on wellbeing and care progress
- Contribute to staff training sessions to promote best practices in senior care
Qualifications
- Proven experience working within a care home environment specialising in senior care
- Supervising or leadership experience in a healthcare setting is highly desirable
- Strong communication skills to liaise effectively with residents, families, and multidisciplinary teams
- Knowledge of care plans development and implementation
- Good IT skills for documentation and reporting purposes
- Valid driving licence (preferred) to assist with transportation duties if required
- Compassionate nature with a genuine interest in enhancing the quality of life for older adults
