Small Works Engineer (Fire Systems)
Salary: £40,000
Hours: Monday – Friday, 08:30 – 17:00
Location: Kent (with local travel)

We are currently recruiting for a skilled and motivated Small Works Engineer to join a growing fire and security solutions provider.
In this role, you will support fire safety operations by delivering small-to-medium engineering works, installations, and maintenance tasks. Your expertise will ensure fire safety systems remain compliant, reliable, and optimised — helping to protect people, property, and businesses across the region.
What You Will Be Doing
Key responsibilities include:
- Installing and commissioning small to medium-scale fire alarm projects
- Working with both addressable and non-addressable systems
- Commissioning systems across a range of leading manufacturers
- Reviewing specifications, drawings, and documentation to deliver high-quality outcomes
- Providing exceptional customer service with a professional, solutions-focused approach
- Troubleshooting faults and resolving issues efficiently on site
- Completing reports, timesheets, and expenses accurately and on time
- Attending scheduled appointments punctually and maintaining a tidy working environment
- Communicating promptly with the office regarding major site or system challenges
- Representing the business professionally across all customer locations
Who We Are Looking For
We are seeking an engineer with strong technical ability and a customer-first mindset. Ideally, you will have:
- Advanced experience working with fire alarm systems
- FIA Units 1, 2/3, and 5 (or equivalent)
- Proven installation and commissioning skills
- Strong understanding of electrical installation procedures within the fire and security industry
- Excellent written and verbal communication, with the ability to produce clear reports
- A proactive approach to problem-solving and building client relationships
- The ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications
- High attention to detail, professionalism, and initiative
