Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Groundworker/Slinger to join our construction team. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting with the safe and efficient movement of materials and equipment on-site, ensuring that operations run smoothly. This role requires a keen eye for safety, good communication skills, and the ability to work effectively within a team environment. Prior construction experience is desirable, along with a valid driving licence.
Duties
- Assist with the safe lifting, positioning, and securing of materials using appropriate slinging techniques
- Operate and guide lifting equipment such as cranes and lorries to move heavy loads around site
- Maintain clear communication with crane operators and other team members to coordinate movements
- Conduct routine inspections of slings and lifting gear to ensure safety standards are met
- Support site safety procedures by adhering to health and safety regulations at all times
- Assist in site preparation and clean-up activities as required
- Ensure all tasks are completed in accordance with project specifications and safety guidelines
Experience
- Previous construction experience is preferred but not essential; training will be provided for the right candidate
- Strong communication skills in English to effectively liaise with team members and supervisors
- Valid driving licence is essential to operate site vehicles and transport equipment between locations
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and lift heavy loads safely
- Good organisational skills with an organised approach to work tasks
