We are now looking to appoint a proactive and enthusiastic part time Health & Safety Manager to lead our Health & Safety function. Reporting directly to the Managing Director, this is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to take the next step in their career and become a key member of our management team.
About the Role
The Health & Safety Manager will ensure we maintain a safe working environment, comply with legislation and continue developing a positive safety culture across the business. This part time role is 25 hours per week over five days Monday – Friday there is flexibility over start and finish times. Annual leave is 22 days plus bank holidays with extra days for length of service.
Key Responsibilities
Health & Safety
- Lead the company's Health & Safety Management System.
- Work closely with our external Health & Safety consultants to ensure legal compliance.
- Develop, review and maintain company Health & Safety policies and procedures.
- Produce, review and update Risk Assessments.
- Maintain COSHH Assessments.
- Carry out regular workplace inspections across both company sites.
- Investigate accidents, incidents and near misses, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
- Deliver engaging toolbox talks and Health & Safety briefings.
- Chair monthly Health & Safety meetings.
- Coach and support managers with their Health & Safety responsibilities.
- Promote positive Health & Safety behaviours throughout the business.
- Coordinate customer, insurance and HSE inspections.
- Monitor Health & Safety performance and produce monthly KPI reports.
- Ensure statutory inspections and compliance requirements are completed.
Skills & Experience
Essential
- NEBOSH General Certificate
- Minimum 3 years' Health & Safety experience within manufacturing or engineering
- Experience carrying out Risk Assessments
- COSHH knowledge
- Accident investigation experience
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Excellent organisational skills
- Practical, hands-on approach
- Good Microsoft Office skills
- Full UK Driving Licence
Desirable
- Manufacturing or Glass Industry experience
- Experience coaching managers
