Graduate Engineer
You will be involved in a variety of projects with the aim of gaining a good working understanding of our products. From the outset you will need to manage and complete projects and work within deadlines either individually or as part of a team - the scope of the role will increase quickly as they gain experience and knowledge.
Initially:
Creating customer and manufacturing drawings.
- Generating and maintaining bills of materials in SAP
- Generating and maintaining bought in part specifications
- Checking and approving documents
- Technical support for the service and sales teams
- Design Calculations
- Technical reports
- Leading internal product and process improvement projects
Responsibilities increasing with experience
Training:
- Detailed introduction to SPP products and processes
- Pump design fundamentals
- Instruction on the key software packages used by the team. Creo, SAP, AutoCAD.
- Through short term placements an introduction to all the functions at SPP
- Support towards professional qualification
- Introduction to management course
- Detail training plan for the first 2 years
The goal of the role is that with the right training and experience the individual will move up through the Engineering grade structure and become either a Senior Engineer or a member of the SPP’s Management Team.
Skills and Experience:
You will need to have a broad interest in engineering subjects showing interest in both mechanical and electrical systems. Proof would likely be shown through university project work or choice of modules.
CAD experience
Mechanical Design experience
Project planning and leadership experience
Desirable
AutoCAD and/or CREO experience
Experience of manufacturing systems like SAP
Relevant industrial experience through summer placements, “Year in Industry” or similar
Ideally having worked in either a manufacturing or service environment in the past.
Qualifications:
Must have a degree in an Engineering or similar discipline. Typically, BEng Hons Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing or General Engineering or similar discipline – any division considered.
GCSE English + Maths
Shows a broad interest in engineering subjects. Ideally both mechanical and electrical.
Location criteria:
Ability to drive will be important as the role is office based in Coleford, Gloucestershire (Forest of Dean)
