Responsibilities
- Monitor residents throughout the night to ensure their safety and comfort, responding promptly to any needs or emergencies
- Conduct regular checks of the care home environment, including bedrooms, communal areas, and outdoor spaces, to maintain safety standards
- Assist residents with personal care tasks such as repositioning or toileting as needed while respecting their privacy and dignity
- Keep detailed records of resident well-being, medication administration (if applicable), and any incidents or concerns during your shift
- Communicate effectively with day staff during handovers to ensure continuity of care and update on any overnight developments
- Support residents in adhering to their individual care plans by providing tailored assistance and companionship
- Use IT systems to document care activities accurately and efficiently, ensuring compliance with organizational policies
Experience
- Prior experience working in a care home or home care setting is highly desirable but not essential; training will be provided for the right candidate
- Strong communication skills in English to interact clearly with residents, colleagues, and emergency services
- Ability to drive is a plus, especially if supporting residents with transportation needs or assisting in community outings
- Familiarity with care plans and the ability to follow detailed instructions ensures personalized resident support
- Basic IT skills for documentation purposes are important for maintaining accurate records
- A caring attitude combined with patience, empathy, and excellent observation skills are essential for success in this role
Pay: £12.71-£18.65 per hour
Expected hours: 24.0 – 48.0 per week
