Overview
We're looking for an experienced VoIP and Network Infrastructure Engineer to join our technical team in a role that spans both site work and remote support. Day to day you'll either be out on a customer sites installing and configuring telephony and connectivity, or you'll spend time in the office on the service desk handling support, working tickets through to resolution, and, leading customer projects from handover to sign-off.
The right person is as comfortable diagnosing a call-quality issue over the phone as they are terminating cabling on site. You'll need solid technical knowledge, a genuinely helpful manner and can do attitude with customers, and the ability to manage your own workload and keep your records accurate as you go.
Regular travel is required, including occasional overnight stays which can be anywhere in the UK
Key Responsibilities
VoIP & Network Engineering
- Install, configure, and maintain VoIP telephone systems and hosted telephony platforms
- Diagnose and resolve VoIP, network, and connectivity faults.
- Complete customer installations, moves, adds, and changes (MACs).
- Configure routers, and network infrastructure equipment.
- Support internet connectivity services including leased lines, broadband, and failover solutions.
- Perform system upgrades, migrations, and hardware replacements.
- Produce accurate installation and fault resolution documentation.
Structured Cabling
- Install and terminate Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6a, Fibre optic would be good but not essential
- Carry out testing and certification of structured cabling installations.
- Deliver projects ranging from single cable runs through to large-scale cabling deployments.
- Ensure all cabling work is completed to industry standards and customer specifications.
Site Work & Customer Support
- Attend customer sites to diagnose and resolve technical issues.
- Provide exceptional customer service and technical advice at all times
- Liaise with customers, suppliers, and internal teams to ensure successful project delivery within an acceptable time frame.
- Work safely and professionally in commercial, industrial, and the occasional construction environment.
- Participate in out-of-hours work where required.
- Provide first and second line remote support, helping customers resolve issues by phone as well as on site.
- Act as project lead on some customer installations, seeing the work through from sales handover to completion.
Essential Requirements
- Strong understanding of VoIP technologies, SIP trunking, and hosted telephony platforms.
- Experience installing and troubleshooting network switches and general equipment.
- Proven structured cabling experience, including installation, termination, and testing.
- Experience working with switches, routers, firewalls, and wireless networking equipment.
- Experience providing remote or helpdesk-based support and working tickets to SLA.
- Ability to work at height using ladders, access equipment, or elevated work platforms
- Full Clean UK driving licence.
- Willingness to travel throughout the UK and stay away from home when required.
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and customer-facing skills.
- Willingness to undergo DBS and background checks
- Ability to work independently and as part of a growing team.
Desirable Qualifications & Experience
- Manufacturer certifications, (Gamma, Cisco, Draytek, Ubiquiti, Yealink, Microsoft Teams Voice, etc.).
- ECS/CSCS Card.
- IPAF Certification.
- PASMA Certification.
- Fibre optic installation and testing experience.

Pay: £30,000.00-£35,000.00 per year
