Reports To: Production Manager
The Position
The candidate will be responsible for running production on the floor of a very busy seasonal soft fruit packhouse, packing products to meet retail supermarket customer specifications.
This role will start as a seasonal position, likely to run until November, with the potential for a longer-term opportunity. Candidates must be able to commute reliably to the workplace.
Salary: From £13.12 per hour

Main ResponsibilitiesProduction
- Manage and implement the day-to-day running of all packing lines.
- Manage production runs and workflows to ensure the smooth operation of the lines.
Labour Management
- Meet production plans by managing line packers' productivity.
- Ensure operators achieve their targets and that skills are utilised appropriately.
Pre-Planning & Organising
- Plan daily production runs and communicate these to the Line Leaders.
- Deal with daily orders and set up operational procedures, including stock control of relevant materials.
Yield Information and Packaging Control
- Provide accurate yield information on pack-out and grade-out.
- Provide production information to support KPI reporting.
- Measure and monitor waste levels.
Communication
- Work closely with the Line Leaders to build a strong Packhouse team.
- Create the right working environment to allow employees to flourish and provide them with opportunities to progress.
- Ensure effective communication is maintained and that any potential problems are reported to the Packhouse Manager.

- The main priority is to ensure that fruit dispatched from the Packhouse meets customer specifications.
- Orders must be fulfilled in a timely manner and within the timescales set by the customer.
- Costs must be managed efficiently.
Despatching Product
- Orders must be fulfilled in a timely manner and within the timescales set by the customer.
Record Keeping
- Ensure all records are kept up to date.
- Maintain full traceability of orders and operations.

- Strong communication skills are required to manage a successful team.
- Performance will be monitored through maintaining or reducing staff turnover.
