This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join a growing and forward-thinking Building Services consultancy. The Role
As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you'll be responsible for designing and delivering mechanical building services solutions while managing projects, liaising with clients and supporting junior engineers.
Key Responsibilities
- Design HVAC, ventilation, heating and cooling systems
- Produce domestic hot and cold water services and drainage designs
- Coordinate Building Management Systems (BMS)
- Produce engineering calculations, specifications and technical reports
- Create drawings using AutoCAD and Revit
- Carry out site surveys, inspections and monitor installations
- Ensure compliance with CIBSE Guides, British Standards and Building Regulations
- Manage projects from concept through to completion
- Liaise with architects, contractors and design teams
- Attend client meetings and provide technical advice
- Monitor project programmes, budgets and deliverables
- Support sustainable and low-carbon design solutions
- Mentor junior engineers
- Carry out design risk assessments and ensure CDM compliance
What We're Looking For
Essential
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or equivalent
- Proven Mechanical Building Services Design experience
- Strong knowledge of HVAC systems
- Experience using AutoCAD and Revit MEP
- Experience with IES, Hevacomp or similar software
- Good understanding of UK Building Regulations and CIBSE standards
- Strong communication and client-facing skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects
- Experience producing engineering calculations and technical reports
Desirable
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) or working towards Chartership
- Experience across commercial, education, retail, leisure or residential projects
- BIM Level 2 / ISO 19650 knowledge
- Experience with smart buildings or digital engineering technologies
