To assist in the delivery of construction, renovation, and maintenance projects by carrying out a range of building and labouring duties. The General Build Operative will work as part of a team to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard of workmanship.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out general construction and building tasks on residential sites.
- Perform basic bricklaying, concreting, paving, and drainage works as required.
- Support skilled tradespeople including carpenters, bricklayers, plumbers, electricians, and plasterers.
- Load, unload, and move construction materials, tools, and equipment around site.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organised working environment.
- Operate hand tools and power tools safely and effectively.
- Adhere to all company health and safety policies and procedures.
- Identify and report hazards, defects, or safety concerns.
- Assist with property maintenance, repairs, and refurbishment works.
- Ensure all work is completed to quality standards and within project timescales.
Skills and Experience
Essential
- Previous experience working within construction, building, or maintenance environments.
- Good understanding of health and safety requirements on construction sites.
- Ability to use hand and power tools safely.
- Good physical fitness and ability to undertake manual handling duties.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work as part of a team.
- Full UK driving licence.
Desirable
- CSCS Card.
- Experience in multiple construction trades.
- Plant or machinery operation certificates.
- Experience in refurbishment and maintenance projects.
