Due to continued growth, we are seeking an experienced Electrical Project Manager to join our management team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a confident and commercially aware project manager who enjoys taking ownership of projects from pre-construction through to completion while developing long-term relationships with clients.
This is not a trainee or assistant role. We are looking for someone who can work independently, make informed decisions and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
The Role
Reporting directly to the operations manager or Managing Director, you will take responsibility for the successful delivery of a range of commercial electrical projects, from initial client enquiry through to final account and handover.
You will manage both client-direct and main contractor projects ranging from small works through to contracts exceeding £500k
Based onsite across various locations and in our office at KT7 0BH
Key Responsibilities
- Managing multiple electrical projects from pre-construction through to successful completion.
- Meeting clients on site, carrying out surveys and developing strong long-term relationships.
- Preparing estimates, quotations and client-direct proposals.
- Reviewing tender enquiries, drawings and specifications.
- Producing technical submissions, equipment schedules and pre-construction documentation.
- Identifying value engineering opportunities and offering practical, cost-effective solutions.
- Programming and scheduling works to achieve programme milestones.
- Planning and managing labour resources across multiple projects.
- Procuring materials, plant and specialist subcontractors.
- Managing project costs, budgets, procurement and profitability.
- Preparing, pricing and agreeing contract variations.
- Attending client, consultant and site progress meetings.
- Managing subcontractors and ensuring high standards of workmanship.
- Ensuring projects comply with Health & Safety legislation and company procedures.
- Supporting site engineers with technical guidance where required.
- Managing testing, commissioning, O&M manuals, as-built drawings and project handovers.
- Identifying additional business opportunities within existing client relationships.
- Maintaining the high standards and reputation of Redlands at all times.
About You
You will have a proven track record of successfully delivering commercial electrical projects and be confident managing projects with minimal supervision.
Essential Experience
- Minimum 5 years' experience as an Electrical Project Manager.
- Previous experience within a UK electrical contracting business.
- Strong knowledge of commercial electrical installations.
- Experience pricing variations and client-direct works.
- Good understanding of project programming and resource planning.
- Experience managing multiple live projects.
- Strong commercial awareness and financial management.
- Excellent client-facing and communication skills.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and specifications.
- Full UK driving licence.
Desirable
- HNC/HND or equivalent in Electrical Engineering.
- SMSTS.
- ECS Black Card.
- Time served electrical apprentice.
- Experience delivering education, commercial refurbishment or fit-out projects.
- Knowledge of Amtech, Trimble, Bluebeam, Microsoft Project or similar software.
