It’s an opportunity to become the Commercial Lead for a successful £30m specialist civil engineering business unit, backed by the strength and security of a £200m construction group.
As the No.1 Commercial professional within the division, you’ll work directly with the Divisional Managing Director, taking ownership of commercial strategy, driving profitability, developing the commercial team and helping shape the next stage of the business’s growth.

The Opportunity
With a strong pipeline of secured work and ambitious growth plans, they’re looking for an experienced commercial leader who can combine strategic thinking with hands-on commercial excellence.
You’ll oversee the commercial team and the operations across a portfolio of specialist civil engineering projects. As well as the day to day commercial management, you’ll be playing a key role in the division’s long-term success.
This is a highly visible leadership position where your decisions will directly influence business performance and future growth.
Outline duties
- Lead all commercial activities across the division’s project portfolio
- Take ownership of profitability, forecasting, budgeting and financial performance
- Oversee procurement, subcontract management, contract administration and risk management
- Work collaboratively with operational teams to maximise project delivery and commercial outcomes
- Lead, mentor and develop a high-performing commercial team
- Partner with the Divisional Managing Director on business planning and strategic growth
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, supply chain partners and key stakeholders
- Ensure robust commercial governance, compliance and best practice across the division
About You
You’ll be an experienced Commercial Manager or Commercial Lead with a strong background in civil engineering, infrastructure or specialist contracting.
You’ll also have:
- Proven experience leading commercial teams and managing multiple project portfolios
- Strong commercial awareness with a track record of improving business performance
- Excellent knowledge of NEC contracts and commercial best practice
- The confidence to influence senior stakeholders and drive strategic decisions
- Ambition, leadership and the desire to play a key role in a growing business
