Job Overview
We are a small, family run upholstery company seeking a practical and hands-on Sewist (seamstress/seamster), who is also willing to learn and support our upholstery work, to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting with upholstery and sewing tasks, contributing to the fabrication and assembly of furniture and fabric products and the reupholstery of existing furniture.

This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with a passion for craftsmanship, attention to detail, and experience in warehouse or manufacturing environments. The position involves hands-on work requiring physical strength and technical skills to ensure high-quality output. This is a varied role within a friendly, close‑knit team. Primarily workshop based with regular opportunities to work on-site at client locations across the UK.
Responsibilities
- Operate sewing machines, hand tools, and power tools to assemble and upholster furniture pieces
- Cut, measure, and prepare fabric or other materials according to specifications
- Assist with fabric fabrication, including pattern cutting and material handling
- Perform heavy lifting of materials and finished products safely and efficiently
- Support the assembly process by attaching components accurately and securely
- Maintain a clean and organised workspace, adhering to safety standards
- Collaborate with team members to meet production deadlines and quality standards
- Inspect finished products for defects or inconsistencies before delivery or installation
Experience
- Proven experience in sewing is essential. Experience in upholstery is desirable, but not essential as training will be provided, more important is the willingness to learn
- Mechanical knowledge/familiarity beneficial for operating various hand and power tools, machinery and sewing equipment
- Previous warehouse, manufacturing or similar environment experience advantageous
- Ability to perform some heavy lifting safely
- Full UK Driving Licence is desirable

Pay: From £13.00 per hour
