Maintenance Team Manager
Stonehaven Care Group is a family run company who enjoys providing a specialist care service both in residential and nursing. Our ten care homes across Devon and Cornwall vary from large historic buildings to small seaside villas, to purpose built dementia-friendly properties, all set in their own grounds. An additional six residential properties are owned by the company. Support for all of the care homes is provided by our Support Office, located in Ashburton.
The company continues to grow, and as such, we are looking to recruit a Maintenance Team Manager to join the team to assist in managing maintenance and compliance services and maintenance team members across the company.
This is a new role and a great opportunity to develop upon existing skills in a growing company. The successful applicant will report to the Facilities and Purchasing Director and work with the Facilities & Purchasing Administrator and is a great opportunity to develop a career in a fast-growing business.
Key Responsibilities Include.
- Maintain and improve the premises, grounds and facilities across the group
- Alongside the Facilities and Procurement Director, create and manage a robust maintenance programme for each location, in addition to the Planned Maintenance Reports.
- Undertake bi-monthly maintenance and servicing report visits to each of the care homes
- Review, manage and action, planned routine and reactive maintenance as identified by Planned Maintenance Reports.
- Provide technical and administrative support to the Maintenance Team members based across our homes.
- Undertake supervisions and performance reviews with the Maintenance Team members.
- Telephone and on-site diagnosis of reactive repairs, raising/scheduling detailed works orders ensuring maintenance is completed cost effectively and to a consistently high standard.
- Undertake Fire Door safety inspections across the care homes (training to be provided)
- Provide maintenance support to the homes in the absence of their on site Maintenance Team Member
- Appreciate the impact of works upon the day-to-day operation of the care homes.
- Review and quantify quotes received and approve invoices for payment (subject to complexity of the works).
- Promote and reinforce the key attributes of a strong safety culture.
Experience & Skills.
The ideal candidate will have previous Maintenance/Facilities experience as well as having a good network of trades people to work with.
They will have people and project management experience with proven skills in project planning, budgeting, implementation, and the ability to manage a multitask list.
The candidate will need to be self-motivated, proactive, organised and resourceful as well as able to supervise and effectively delegate work across the group, whilst maintaining oversight of the works.
They will need to demonstrate good networking skills and the ability to build relationships with both external contractors and employed maintenance persons.
Excellent communication skills both written and oral with high levels of accuracy and attention to detail, and the ability to present conclusions and proposals clearly and concisely in writing and verbally.
A good understanding of housing defects and maintenance solutions.
Strong team working and management skills as well as able to work independently.
Good knowledge of property and planning law and regulations, as well as Health & Safety legislation and compliance, including gas, fire, and electrical safety.
Strong IT skills including Microsoft Office, excel, word, as well as industry specific programmes.
Qualifications.
Relevant experience within the industry/similar role and/or relevant professional qualifications.
Remuneration & Benefits.
We are looking for an individual to work 40 hours per week, Monday – Friday.
Hours to be agreed across 8:30am-5:30pm Monday-Friday, with an ability to work extra hours when the business is facing busy periods.

This is a hybrid working role with working pattern to be agreed upon successful completion of an initial training period. Time will be spent in our Support Office in Ashburton with regular visits to the care homes and other sites.
The position is advertised at £32,000 - £36,500 per annum depending upon experience.
Pay will be four weekly in arrears.

The successful candidate will be required to have:-
A full UK Driving License with own car and Business Use Insurance (mileage – currently at 0.55 pence per mile - and business use insurance)
A satisfactory DBS check.
