Job Description
We are seeking a compassionate, experienced and dedicated Senior Care Worker to join our hospice team. The successful candidate will provide high-quality, person-centred care to patients with life-limiting illnesses while supporting their families with dignity, compassion and respect.
Working alongside nurses, healthcare professionals and the wider multidisciplinary team, you will lead by example, supervise care staff during shifts and ensure the highest standards of care are maintained at all times.
Main Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality personal care and emotional support to patients.
- Lead and support Care Workers during each shift.
- Promote dignity, privacy, comfort and independence.
- Monitor patients' wellbeing and promptly report any changes to the nursing team.
- Accurately complete care records and documentation.
- Support patients receiving end-of-life and palliative care.
- Assist with moving and handling using appropriate equipment.
- Support patients with nutrition, hydration and medication (where trained and authorised).
- Build positive relationships with patients, families and healthcare professionals.
- Ensure compliance with safeguarding, infection prevention and health and safety policies.
- Maintain a safe, caring and supportive environment.
- Act as a role model by promoting best practice and delivering compassionate care.
Essential Experience and Skills
- Minimum of 2 years' experience working as a Senior Care Worker or experienced Care Worker.
- Previous experience in a hospice, nursing home, care home, hospital, palliative care or healthcare setting.
- Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care (or equivalent), or willingness to work towards it.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Ability to work calmly under pressure and provide compassionate care.
- Good written and verbal English.
- Understanding of safeguarding, confidentiality and person-centred care.

- Experience using electronic care planning systems.
