About Homesdale
At Homesdale Supported Living, our mission is simple - to empower people to live independently, make their own choices and lead fulfilling lives.
We provide high-quality supported living services for adults with Learning Disabilities, Autism, Mental Health needs, Epilepsy and behaviours that may challenge. Every person we support is unique, and we believe the best support is built around the individual, not the service.
As a growing provider across South East London, we're committed to delivering compassionate, person-centred support that enables people to maximise their independence, develop new skills and become active members of their local communities.
We're now opening a brand new specialist supported living home, and are looking for an experienced Service Manager to lead the service from day one.
About the Role
As Service Manager, you'll take the lead in establishing and managing a new specialist service supporting four young men aged 20-30 with complex Learning Disabilities, Autism and behaviours of concern.
For some of the people we support, this will be their first experience of living away from home. You will play a central role in making this significant life transition safe, positive and empowering for each individual and their family.
The service will deliver approximately 600 support hours per week and sit within our Band 3 Service Manager structure. You'll be supported by an Applied Behaviour Analyst, Registered Manager and Senior Leadership Team.
This is a rewarding opportunity to build a service and team from the ground up, shape a positive culture and make a lasting difference to the people we support.
Key Responsibilities
As Service Manager, you will:
- Provide visible, values-led leadership and establish a positive, accountable and person-centred culture from the service opening.
- Lead, motivate and develop a team of approximately 15-20 staff, ensuring colleagues have the skills, confidence and support required to succeed.
- Manage the day-to-day operation of the service, ensuring safe, consistent and high-quality support is delivered at all times.
- Oversee recruitment, induction, rota planning, supervision, appraisal, training and performance management.
- Ensure support plans, risk assessments and Positive Behaviour Support plans are implemented consistently and reviewed appropriately.
- Work closely with the Applied Behaviour Analyst to improve quality-of-life outcomes and embed evidence-based approaches across the service.
- Manage safeguarding concerns, incidents and investigations promptly, professionally and in line with policy and legislation.
- Complete audits, monitor service performance and develop action plans that drive continuous improvement.
- Promote effective practice in relation to the Mental Capacity Act, Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards and other relevant legal and regulatory requirements.
- Build positive, professional relationships with the people we support, their families, commissioners, health and social care professionals and other stakeholders.
What We're Looking For
We're looking for an experienced, confident and values-led social care leader who can build a new team, establish high standards and create a service where people are supported to thrive.
You'll be someone who is:
- Caring, compassionate and deeply committed to person-centred support, dignity, choice and independence.
- An experienced leader who can build accountable, motivated and high-performing teams.
- A clear and confident communicator who can develop strong relationships with families, professionals, commissioners and colleagues.
- Highly organised and able to manage staffing, resources, priorities and competing demands.
- Calm, resilient and solution-focused, with the confidence to manage risk and lead effectively in complex or challenging situations.
- Knowledgeable about safeguarding, quality assurance, the Mental Capacity Act, Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards and best practice in adult social care.
- Committed to Positive Behaviour Support and improving quality-of-life outcomes for people with complex needs.
Essential / Desirable
- At least two years of leadership experience in health and social care, gained in a Service Manager, Deputy Manager or comparable senior role.
- At least four years of experience supporting adults with Learning Disabilities and Autism.
