Masstemps are currently looking or a Manual Machinist for a company located in the Burton upon Trent area.
THE ROLE
- Operate manual machining equipment including Centre Lathes, Capstan Lathes and Vertical/Horizontal Borers.
- Set and operate machines to produce components accurately to engineering drawings and specifications.
- Work with a range of materials and carry out machining to required tolerances.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, dimensions and machining instructions.
- Select appropriate tooling, speeds and feeds for different machining operations.
- Measure and inspect own work using micrometers, verniers, gauges and other precision measuring equipment.
- Make adjustments to machinery and tooling to maintain dimensional accuracy and quality.
- Maintain a clean, safe and organised working area and follow all company health & safety procedures.
ABOUT YOU
- Previous experience working as a Manual Machinist within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
- Essential experience operating one or more of the following:
- Centre Lathes: Colchester, TRENS or Harrison.
- Capstan Lathes: Herbert.
- Vertical Borers: Webster Bennett.
- Horizontal Borers: Union BFT.
- Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
- Confident measuring and inspecting own work to ensure components meet required tolerances.
- Good knowledge of manual machining processes, tooling and cutting techniques.
- Ability to work accurately and independently while maintaining high-quality standards.
HOURS OF WORK
Mon to Thur 6-3 Fri 11pm OR 7-4 / fri 7-12
