Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Breakfast Chef/Commis Chef to join our dynamic culinary team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to develop your skills in a professional kitchen environment, specialising in breakfast and brunch service. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and cooking high-quality breakfast dishes, ensuring food safety standards are maintained, and delivering excellent service to our guests. Previous kitchen experience and a genuine enthusiasm for culinary arts are essential for this position.
Duties
- Prepare and cook a variety of breakfast dishes according to recipes and presentation standards.
- Assist in the preparation of ingredients, including chopping, peeling, and portioning.
- Ensure all food is prepared in accordance with food safety and hygiene regulations.
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area throughout shifts.
- Support the team during busy service periods, ensuring timely delivery of meals.
- Follow health and safety guidelines diligently to create a safe working environment.
- Assist with stock control, including receiving deliveries and storing ingredients appropriately.
- Contribute to menu development by suggesting new ideas for breakfast offerings.
- Serve food to guests when required, maintaining a professional and friendly manner.
Experience
- Previous experience in a kitchen environment, ideally within a restaurant or hotel setting.
- Knowledge of food preparation techniques specific to breakfast dishes.
- Familiarity with cooking methods, including frying, grilling, baking, and poaching.
- Understanding of food safety standards and hygiene practices.
- Experience in meal preparation and presentation at a professional level.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure during busy service times.
- Good organisational skills with an eye for detail.
- Experience with serving guests is advantageous but not essential; training will be provided where necessary.
