About the Role
We are seeking a reliable and motivated Machine Operator to join our production team in Wigan & Golborne. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with experience in a manufacturing or food production environment who is committed to maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and operational efficiency.
The successful candidate will be responsible for operating weighing, packing, and production equipment while ensuring products are manufactured to customer specifications and company standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely and efficiently operate weighing, packing, and production equipment in accordance with company procedures.
- Perform daily equipment set-up, start-up inspections, and pre-production checks.
- Monitor machinery performance and promptly report equipment faults, breakdowns, or unsafe conditions to the Engineering team or Production Supervisor.
- Adhere to all Food Safety, Quality, Health & Safety, and Hygiene policies and procedures.
- Ensure the safe handling, processing, and packaging of food products at all times.
- Monitor raw material usage to minimise waste and maintain product specifications.
- Control packaging and production waste levels, actively identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce waste.
- Follow all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and quality standards.
- Produce products in line with the agreed production plan, achieving throughput, yield, and performance targets.
- Carry out routine quality checks to ensure products meet customer and company specifications.
- Maintain excellent housekeeping and cleanliness standards throughout production and factory areas.
- Complete production records, quality documentation, and other required paperwork accurately.
- Support colleagues and undertake additional duties as required to meet business needs.
Skills and Experience
- Previous experience operating machinery within a manufacturing or food production environment is desirable.
- Strong understanding of health and safety practices.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced production environment.
- Good attention to detail and commitment to quality standards.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to identify and report issues promptly.
- Flexible and willing to undertake a variety of tasks.
