A range of contract sizes are available, starting from 16 hours per week, including 20 and 28-hour contracts.

Our shifts are generally worked in 4-hour blocks, with a variety of early morning, daytime, evening and weekend shifts available.

Café opening hours will be 8am–5pm Monday–Saturday and 9am–5pm on Sundays. Our Café team will be required to cover operating hours of 7am–6pm and, as Store Team Members, may also be required to support in our store across its wider operating hours of 6am–midnight. As part of your application, you will be asked to provide your availability across these times.

Job Introduction

Our new Guernsey store will be home to a Home Bargains first – a standalone Café located next to the store, giving customers a welcoming place to relax, refuel and enjoy great service.
As a Café Store Team Member, you’ll prepare drinks and food, serve customers, handle deliveries, and keep everything clean, stocked and welcoming. Every task helps create a smooth, enjoyable experience.

Job Overview
Candidates will be hardworking, enjoy working in a retail store and have experience of cash handling, processing deliveries and preferably have experience of working as a barista, in a café or similar.
Successful candidates are provided with on-the-job training and gain essential transferable retail and hospitality skills.
Main job responsibilities include:

Adherence to health and safety procedures including food preparation and hygiene

Maintain equipment including regular deep cleans

Prepare drinks and food, including hot items
-
Practice excellent food hygiene standards including temperature control, storage, product handling and cleaning

Cash handling and card transactions

Stock replenishment
As a Store Team Member based in the Café, your main focus will be supporting our Café customers, but you’ll also be part of the wider store team and will be expected to support with general store duties when required, such as serving customers, replenishing stock and helping to keep the store looking its best.

Due to health and safety requirements within our Café, applicants for this role must be aged 18 or over.

You must be available to start in October( Date to TBC) to complete the required induction and training ahead of our store opening on 14 November 2026.

Training: Full training will be provided. As part of our new store opening, there may also be opportunities for some colleagues to complete additional training in the UK. Where required, further details will be discussed during the recruitment process, with reasonable travel and accommodation costs covered by the company.

You must have the required entitlement to work in Guernsey.
