Role: Cook/Kitchen Assistant
Full time/part time hours available
Additional hours to cover sickness / holiday available
Rate: £10.42-£10.80
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
1. To take full control and effectively manage the kitchen
2. To ensure that high quality food and beverages are prepared and served efficiently, effectively and as quickly as practicable.
3. To maintain a high standard of cleanliness throughout the department at all time.
4. To adequately maintain and order relevant foods etc. required. To compile a stock list if and when required. To ensure that all losses of any description are kept to the absolute minimum.
5. To ensure that all company policies and procedures are implemented and adhered to throughout your department.
6. To contribute and work with other team members as an integral part of the home to further the aims and objectives of the company.
MAIN DUTIES
1. To prepare promptly, appetising, attractive meals etc., paying attention to dietary requirements. To serve all meals, noting quality and quantity as quickly as possible to ensure that each service user is served their meal at the peak of its perfection.
2. To note returned unfinished meals, ascertaining the reason and if relevant informing the manager.
3. To ensure the correct and economical use of all foodstuffs, materials and equipment keeping waste to a minimum.
4. To compile and prepare special dietary meals.
5. To ensure high standards of hygiene and cleanliness, ensuring that all the company’s relevant procedures are adhered to and carried out.
6. To ensure the safe working practices are carried out, removing from use and reporting o the manager of any equipment found to be faulty.
7. To ensure that all kitchen equipment and machinery is operated in accordance with manufacturers instructions and in compliance with the relevant Health and Safety policies and legislation.
8. To ensure that all kitchen equipment, crockery and cutlery etc., is kept clean and ready for use. This could include the dishwasher.
9. Preparation of food for special functions e.g. birthday parties etc. as directed.
10. To adhere to and actively promote the company’s equal opportunity policy.
11. All staff must be familiar with the procedure to be followed in the event of fire or fire alarm, and to attend the home to take part in fire drills and lectures.
12. Time sheets are to be completed and signed at the end of every shift worked agreeing hours worked.
13. To attend staff meetings when required.
14. To ensure that personal expertise, skills and knowledge are regularly updated and that current issues, changes and developments in the relevant areas are considered.
15. To assist the manager with other duties that reasonably correspond to the general character of the position and are commensurate with its level of responsibility and authority.
