About the role
Are you a practical, hands-on team player who takes pride in safe, high-quality work? We’re looking for an Operative to join our Bundling team at Painter Brothers, supporting the movement, storage and flow of materials through our manufacturing operations.
In this role, you’ll help keep production running smoothly by loading and unloading trailers, moving raw materials and finished goods, maintaining accurate stock records and operating plant equipment safely and professionally.
Shift Pattern:
- Shift 1: 06:00 – 14:00 (with enhanced pay between 06:00 – 08:00)
- Shift 2: 14:00 – 22:00 (with enhanced pay between 16:00 – 22:00)
- Shifts alternate weekly
What you'll be doing
- Safely operating equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks or automated plant machinery to load, unload and transport materials.
- Working as part of a team to support production requirements and keep materials moving efficiently.
- Inspecting incoming materials for defects or contamination before they enter the production process.
- Maintaining accurate stock records by logging material movements.
- Following risk assessments, work instructions and our Zero Harm approach to safety at all times.
- Producing quality work in line with our Quality Management System.
- Supporting continuous improvement and helping to reduce waste across our processes.
Who we're looking for
- A positive, enthusiastic attitude and willingness to get stuck in.
- Reliability, self-motivation and the ability to work well as part of a team.
- A willingness to learn, embrace new ideas and contribute to a continuous improvement culture.
- Experience using air and electric hand tools, grinders or similar equipment.
- The ability to read drawings and complete workplace process documentation.
- A good understanding of health and safety, with a commitment to maintaining a safe, clean working environment.
It would be great if you also have
- Experience within a steel fabrication environment.
- Experience in material handling.
- Experience operating overhead cranes or plant equipment.
- Forklift truck or telehandler experience.
- Basic computer literacy, including the ability to read stock sheets.
